This privacy policy applies to the Insect Check app (hereby referred to as the “Application”) for mobile devices that was created by Sean Janke (hereby referred to as the “Service Provider”). This service is intended for use “AS IS”.
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
Personal information collection
The Application does not directly collect, store or transmit any personal information from users. Registration is not required to use the basic features of the Application.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
The Application offers premium features through in-app purchases managed by RevenueCat. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat may collect and process certain information necessary for transaction processing, including purchase receipts and subscription status. This information is handled according to RevenueCat's privacy policy. We do not have access to your payment information, which is processed securely by your device's app store.
Camera access
The Application requests access to your device's camera solely to provide core functionality. Images captured through the camera are processed locally on your device and are not stored, transmitted or shared with any third parties. No image data leaves your device.
Network usage
The Application connects to the Open Food Facts API to retrieve publicly available product information. This connection is made directly from your device to Open Food Facts' servers and does not involve our servers. The Application does not add personal information to these API requests.
Do third parties see or have access to information obtained by the Application?
The Application does not directly collect personal information. Therefore, no personal data is directly shared with third parties by us.
Third-party service: RevenueCat
RevenueCat is used to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions and may process transaction-related information as outlined in its privacy policy.
Third-party service: Open Food Facts API
The Application connects to Open Food Facts to retrieve publicly available product information. The Application does not add personal information about its users to these requests.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can stop all use of device features by the Application by uninstalling it through the standard process available on your mobile device. You can also revoke camera permission through your device's settings at any time.

Required to retrieve product information from the Open Food Facts API.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Since the Application itself does not collect, store or transmit personal information and all camera processing occurs locally on your device, the risk of unauthorised access to such data is minimised.
Children's privacy
The Application does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. Since the Application itself does not collect personal information, it may be used by children under parental guidance.
Changes
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of changes by publishing the updated policy on this page. You are advised to review this page regularly for updates.
This privacy policy is effective as of August 17, 2026.

By using the Application, you consent to the processing of information as set forth in this privacy policy, now and as amended by the Service Provider.
